The History

A lovely location
with a past full of charm

Bluvarì Charming House has a centuries-old history dating back to the late 1800’s: it stands in a privileged position among the heights of Alassio, 380 meters above sea level, with an incomparable view of the Bay of the Sun and the ancient Torre del Vegliasco, typical sixteenth-century fortification, symbol of the history of Alassio.

We chose to call the house “Bluvarì” just to celebrate the perfect wedding between the word “Luvarì”- name of the region that hosts it – and the deep blue of the sea that extends as far as the eye can see at the foot of the hills.

We are in a small village surrounded by oaks, beeches and Mediterranean vegetation: probably, the building is one of the oldest in the region.

Originally, Bluvarì Charming House was just a low-rise cottage for pastoral and rural use in stone and wood, typically Ligurian style used by farmers and shepherds as a shelter for both people and animals during grazing and harvesting of olives and grapes that took place in the surrounding “bands” (terraces).

Modernity and tradition

An old farmhouse in Ligurian style overlooking the sea and immersed in the countryside and olive trees

The property includes a plot of terraced land of about 3,500 square meters that has always been used, thanks to the particularly favorable location (sunny throughout the year and sheltered from the wind) to the cultivation of olive trees, vineyard, fruit trees and vegetables.

Today, we have recovered the olive grove, with those same plants that – almost two centuries ago – gave their fruits to produce a precious extra virgin olive oil. We have created a lavender field, a citrus grove and we have given new life to the vineyard that will soon come back to climb the rows and pergolas.

We were passionate about the idea that this 150-year-old building would rise to new life: for this reason we have completely renovated it with a green imprint, but without forgetting its history.

We wanted to respect the rustic beauty of the house, its architecture and original materials by including in the restoration phase many of the elements in local stone, slate, iron and wood recovered from the old property, so as to merge modernity and evocative atmosphere of tradition.

Between modernity and tradition, an ancient building brought back to life with a green imprint

We have restored ancient objects such as the stone basin, the sundial, the terracotta and stone masks, the jars and some furniture: the large terraced land also houses two old stone wells surrounded by greenery.

For the entrance door and the shutters we chose blue because typical of the colorful windows of the Ligurian tradition and because we liked the combination with the color of the sky and the sea.

Bluvarì Charming House today is a luxury residence that retains the ancient charm of the rustic, but equipped with all modern comforts and last generation eco-sustainable solutions.
